Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef personality. She also was an instructor for the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides straightforward, simple techniques to master for the at-home cook on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in many of the best restaurants in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy and competed in Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in the upstate of New York, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and food at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went to earn an English degree as well as a communications certificate at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America student. I was awed by every moment." I just couldn't get enough pleasure from it. After graduating, chef Burrell was in Italy for a year, taking classes at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) in Tuscany. It was during this time that her experience in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian way of life and its culture and has made an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten children living with difficulties. She also serves as an Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador. she advocates for children with diabetes and awareness. She frequently travels around the country in her role as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne was always grateful that she had the opportunity to share her love that she had for and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
